Weatherford, Texas (April 20, 2019) – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Friday in Weatherford, police said.

The wreck took place on Interstate 20 near mile marker 408 on Friday, April 19.

According to a preliminary investigation, a semi truck traveling eastbound on I-20 failed to slow for traffic ahead and rear-ended an SUV. The impact pushed the SUV into the back of a car, which in turn spun and struck a truck.

The semi truck which sparked the crash rolled onto its side.

A 44-year-old woman riding in one of the cars was killed in the collision.

Seven people were taken to a hospital for treatment while two other victims were treated at the scene and released.

The identity of the deceased victim was not immediately released.

Police are investigating the crash.
