Houston, Texas (April 21, 2019)  – Two police officers were injured when they were struck by a suspected drunk driver at the scene of an earlier collision in Southeast Houston late Saturday night.

The authorities said the incident happened at about 11 p.m. April 21, on East Sam Houston Parkway.

The police officers were directing traffic at the scene of a fatal crash that left a 19-year-old woman dead. The two officers were in a vehicle that was rear-ended by two drivers.

Police said both drivers failed a field sobriety test.

The two officers were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.

It’s unclear whether the drivers were taken into custody after the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
