Austin, Texas (April 21, 2019) – The Austin police are conducting an investigation into an incident where a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning in east Austin.

The crash happened in the 5100 block of I-35 at 51st Street.

According to the Austin-Travis County EMS, a man in his 40s was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

There were no details provided on how the man was hit.

The Austin police were at the scene conducting an investigation to find out its cause. The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 were shut down by the authorities as they examined the scene.
