Richard Raines and Carol Cornelius Killed in Axtell 2-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 31 and FM 2311

Axtell, Texas (May 8, 2019) – Two drivers who were injured in an accident last month in Axtell have succumbed to their injuries, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash took place on April 29, on State Highway 31 and FM 2311.

Police said 58-year-old Richard Raines was traveling south on FM 3211 in a Nissan pickup truck when he failed to stop at the stop sign. As a result, Raines pulled into the path of Carol Cornelius, 76, driving a Ford pickup truck.

Both Raines and Cornelius were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. They were both pronounced dead on May 7, as per the Texas Department of Public Safety.
