Albert Castaneda Dies in Grand Prairie Crash on Bush Turnpike near Dickey Road

Grand Prairie, Texas (June 8, 2019) – Officer Albert Castaneda has been identified as the off-duty police officer who was killed in a car accident on Friday morning in Grand Prairie, according to Grand Prairie  Police Department.

The incident was reported at around 10:40 a.m. June 7, on Bush Turnpike near Dickey Road.

Authorities said Officer Castaneda was using a hand-held radar outside of his patrol car along the shoulder of President George Bush Turnpike when a Nissan 300zx lost control and struck him. The impact threw Castaneda over the highway and onto the ground below.

Castaneda suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
