Bernard Rowland Killed in Harlingen Plane Crash near U.S. 77 and Orphanage Road

Harlingen, Texas (April 10, 2019) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a crop duster plane crash on Tuesday morning in Harlingen as Bernard Rowland, 77, of Lasara, as per a police report.

The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. April 9, near the intersection of U.S. 77 and Orphanage Road.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Rowland was flying in his single-engine air tractor when he clipped a power line and crashed into a field near Orphanage Road.

Rowland was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.
