Tony Alvarez Identified as 58-Year-Old Man Killed in Orange County Truck Crash on Interstate 10
Orange County, Texas (April 18, 2019) – The man who was killed in a collision between two vehicles on Wednesday afternoon in Orange County has been identified as Tony Alvarez, 58, of Houston, according to the DPS.
The wreck occurred at about 4:30 p.m. April 17, on Interstate 10 near mile marker 858.
DPS said a dump truck driven by Leon David May II, 43, of Port Arthur, was going westbound on Interstate 10 when it lost control after one tire blew out. The truck slammed into a Ford flatbed truck before crashing into a concrete wall and caught fire.
Alvarez was identified as the driver of the Ford. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s in Beaumont, where he succumbed to his injuries.
May was taken to a Galveston hospital with serious injuries and burns.
An investigation into the crash is currently ongoing.
