Arlington Police Officer Injured, Steven Turner Arrested after Arlington Bicycle Crash on North Collins Street
Arlington, Texas (May 14, 2019) – A man has been arrested following a hit-and-run collision that left an Arlington police officer injured early Sunday morning in Arlington, according to the authorities.
The accident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. May 12, in the 800 block of North Collins Street.
Police said the officer was on a marked patrol bicycle responding to a call and was trying to cross Collins Street westbound when they were hit by a northbound dark-colored sports utility vehicle.
The officer was ejected into the roadway by the impact of the crash.
The officer was transported to Medical City Arlington for treatment and was later released.
The driver of the SUV failed to stop and render aid. A suspect, identified as Steven Turner, 37, turned himself in on Monday in connection with the crash. Turner was taken into custody and the authorities are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
