Steven Almanza Killed in Wood County Car Crash on FM 14

Wood County, Texas (April 16, 2019) – One person was killed and two others injured in an accident that occurred on Saturday morning in Wood County, as per a police report.

The crash took place at about 10:42 a.m. April 13, in the northbound lanes of FM 14.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said 17-year-old Emily Catherine Moore was traveling southbound on FM 14 when her vehicle hydroplaned and drifted into the path of a 2005 Toyota Highlander, leading to a head-on collision.

The driver of the Toyota, Stephen Joseph Almanza, 28, and his passenger, 31-year-old Jenny Paine, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Almanza sadly succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Paine was treated and later released.

The crash is still under investigation.
