60-Year-Old Steve Martinez Dies in Baytown Crash on Interstate 10 near San Jacinto River

Baytown, Texas (June 30, 2019) – Police officers have identified the 60-year-old driver who was killed in a traffic accident on Thursday morning in Baytown as Steve Martinez, according to a local news source.

The incident was reported at around 3:40 a.m. June 27, on Interstate 10 near San Jacinto River.

Police said a semi struck a vehicle which was traveling along Interstate 10 for unknown reasons. A second semi-truck came around the scene and swerved to avoid hitting the car, causing the 18-wheeler to crash through the guardrail before diving into the San Jacinto River. Emergency crews lifted the semi-truck out of the water and extricated the driver from the truck cab.

The extricated driver, identified as Martinez, suffered grave injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
