San Antonio, Texas (April 20, 2019) – The woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle near an elementary school on San Antonio’s West Side Wednesday morning has been identified as Regina Ann Benavides, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The incident happened at about 7 a.m. April 17, at 1706 Pinn Road near the Cable Elementary School.

Deputies said Benavides was struck by a car in front of the school as she tried to walk across the lanes of traffic.

Benavides was rushed to University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after.

Investigators said Benavides was struck on a dark unlit section of the road.

The crash remains under investigation.
