Four Hurt in Lubbock Multi-Vehicle Crash on 50th Street and University Avenue

Lubbock, Texas (May 10, 2019) – A police officer was among four people injured in a multi-vehicle collision at a Lubbock intersection on Wednesday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The crash was reported around 4 p.m. May 8, at 50th Street and University Avenue.

According to the report, a Lubbock patrol vehicle was responding to a domestic assault situation and had its lights and sirens on. The officer stopped at a red light at the intersection momentarily and then proceeded.

The patrol vehicle collided with a pickup truck that also entered the intersection. The impact caused the patrol vehicle to strike an SUV that was stopped at a light, and pushed it into a stopped LISD school bus.

The police officer was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The EMS transported a passenger in the SUV to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and went to the hospital by private vehicle.

No one on the school bus was hurt.

The incident is under investigation.
