Claudia Cormier Injured in San Marcos Car Crash on Highway 35
San Marcos, Texas (May 19, 2019) – A police officer was struck and injured by a suspected DUI driver on Saturday night in San Marcos, according to the authorities.
The crash occurred shortly after 9:45 p.m. May 18, on Interstate Highway 35, north of the McCarty overpass.
The authorities said Officer Claudia Cormier was responding to a call of an object in the roadway when she was hit by a 2000 Ford Expedition.
Cormier was transported to Seton-Hays Hospital in Kyle, where she underwent emergency surgery. She was reportedly in stable condition.
The driver of the Expedition was arrested on charges of intoxication assault and failure to slow down causing bodily injury.
The crash is under investigation.
