36-Year-old McKay Valdez Hospitalized after Odessa Crash on 42nd Street and Tanglewood

Odessa, Texas (May 23, 2019) – 36-year-old McKay Valdez has been identified as the man who was injured in an accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on Sunday in Odessa, according to authorities.

The crash was reported on Sunday, May 19, at the intersection of 42nd Street and Tanglewood.

Odessa police and fire rescue said Valdez was riding a yellow Suzuki motorcycle when he was struck by a BMW 328i, driven by Benjamin Ramos, as he attempted to turn south onto Tanglewood from 42nd Street.

Valdez was ejected from the motorcycle by the impact. He was transported to Medical Center Hospital and later airlifted to Lubbock for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Police later arrested Ramos for intoxication assault causing severe bodily injury, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, false identification, marijuana possession, and DWLI.
