Mario Alberto Benevidez ID’d as Teen Killed in Bishop Traffic Accident on FM 70 near County Road 73

Bishop, Texas (May 25, 2019) – The teen who was killed alongside a toddler in a head-on collision that occurred late Friday night near Bishop has been identified as Mario Alberto Benevidez, 18, of Kingsville, according to the authorities.

The deadly collision happened at about 11:15 p.m. May 24, on FM 70 near County Road 73.

According to the DPS report, a vehicle traveling westbound on FM 70 drifted into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle.

Benevidez and a two-year-old child, who were riding in the westbound vehicle, were both killed in the wreck.

Two other people were airlifted to Christus Spohn Shoreline with unknown injuries.

An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
