Lieutenant John Villareal Hospitalized after Rockdale Car Crash on Murray Avenue

Rockdale, Texas (April 14, 2019) – A volunteer firefighter was injured in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Rockdale on Friday night, according to the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.

The incident was reported at about 10:04 p.m. April 12, at 1402 Murray Avenue.

The report showed that Lieutenant John Villareal, 39, of Rockdale, was driving a 2004 Chevy pickup backing into his driveway when he was hit by a 2012 Chrysler four-door that was being operated by Candice Candrell, 29, also of Rockdale.

Firefighters responded to the incident and extricated  Villareal from his vehicle. He was then transported to Seton Williamson County for treatment of unknown injuries.

Cadrell was arrested by the Rockdale police for intoxication assault with a vehicle.

The crash is under investigation.
