Leon Andres Salmeron ID’d as Man Killed in North Austin Collision on Highway 183 near Anderson Square

Austin, Texas (May 1, 2019) – The man who was killed in a traffic collision that took place in North Austin on Friday night has been identified as  Leon Rogelio Andres Salmeron, 21, according to the Austin police.

The wreck happened in the 8300 block of Highway 183 near Anderson Square at about 8:10 p.m. April 26.

Police said the driver of a grey 2005 Honda Accord was exiting the Park at Crestview Apartments when the driver failed to yield to traffic on the highway. Salmeron, who was driving a red 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck in the southbound lanes of Highway 183, collided with the Honda Accord.

The impact caused the Ford to strike a concrete support column.

Salmeron was pronounced deceased at the site of the collision.

The Honda driver reportedly fled the scene after the incident. The driver has not yet been identified.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
