Mineral Wells Man Joseph Payne Among 2 Killed in Ector County Car Crash on FM 3472

Ector County, Texas (May 4, 2019) – A Mineral Wells man was among two people killed when two vehicles collided on Wednesday morning in Ector County, according to the DPS.

The wreck happened at about 11:48 a.m. May 1, on FM 3472.

DPS said Joseph Payne, 26, of Mineral Wells, was driving a 2002 Toyota Avalon westbound on FM 3472 when he changed lanes and collided with a westbound Cadillac. The impact caused the Cadillac to roll and it hit a utility pole.

Payne and a passenger in his vehicle died after being taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Two passengers in the Cadillac were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second passenger in the Toyota was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
