Raymondville Man Jonathan Young Dies in Weslaco Traffic Crash on Business 77

Weslaco, Texas (May 17, 2019) – A man from Raymondville was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle wreck on Thursday night in Weslaco, according to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The incident took place at about 9:45 p.m. May 16, on Business 77 south of FM 3168.

DPS said a maroon 2007 Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on Business 77 when the driver tried to drift to the side and struck a black 2010 Chevrolet Malibu that was also going north.

The Malibu was then hit by a southbound white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Malibu, Jonathan Young, 19, of Raymondville, was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. His 4-year-old son was riding as a passenger in the car. The boy was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the Chevrolet Impala and charged her with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
