6-Year-Old Jairo Huitron Injured in Bastrop County Pedestrian Crash on U.S. 290

Elgin, Texas (June 13, 2019) – A boy was hospitalized after being struck by an 18-wheeler on Tuesday afternoon in Bastrop County.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. June 11, on U.S. 290.

Police said the boy, identified as Jairo Labra Huitron, 6, has just stepped out of  a school bus when an 18-wheeler that went around the Elgin ISD school bus struck him.

Huitron was flown to a hospital for treatment and was released.

It’s unclear whether there were any citations in the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
