18-Year-Old David Gonzalez Arrested after Leon Valley Traffic Accident on Grissom Road

Leon Valley, Texas (June 23, 2019) – An 18-year-old man was arrested after a police pursuit ended in a fatal multi-vehicle collision in Leon Valley Friday morning, police said.

The crash took place on Grissom Road June 21.

Police said a David Gonzalez, 18, was operating a suspected stolen vehicle when he failed to stop for officers who tried to stop him. The officers initiated a chase in the area of Bandera and Grissom. Gonzalez ended up striking a vehicle on Grissom Road and the impact caused a chain-reaction involving other vehicles near the intersection.

The Gonzalez vehicle also collided with a silver Toyota near the intersection, bringing the chase to a stop.

A driver operating one of the vehicles involved in the crash died at the scene. A passenger in the victim’s vehicle was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

Two other victims in other vehicles were taken to University Hospital with unknown injuries.

Gonzalez, who was also taken to to the hospital, was later arrested and charged with murder, unauthorized driving of a vehicle, and evading arrest causing serious bodily injury.

Authorities are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
