69-Year-Old Paul Lipp Dies in Decatur Three-Car Accident on FM 51

Decatur, Texas (May 27, 2019) – A 69-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon near Decatur.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wreck happened just before 4 p.m. May 25, on FM 51 near County Road 2224.

DPS said a Paradise man was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 southbound on FM 51 when the vehicle had a blowout. The driver lost control and drifted into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with an oncoming 2005 Ford F-150.

The driver of the F-150, identified as Paul Lipp, 69, of Decatur, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the F-350 was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries.

The debris from the collision struck a passing northbound 2003 GMC Yukon. None of the Yukon’s occupants was injured.

The DPS is investigating the collision.
