Maria Jasper ID’d as Woman Killed in Lubbock Car Accident at Highway 84 and County Road 3300

Lubbock, Texas (June 8, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Thursday morning near Slaton in Lubbock County has been identified as Maria Jasper, 42, of Snyder, according to the DPS.

The wreck happened just after midnight at Highway 84 and County Road 3300.

DPS said a black pickup truck collided with a white SUV driven by Jasper. Authorities said Jasper may have been heading the wrong way when the crash occurred.

Jasper died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the pickup, Hayden Powers, 20, was transported to University Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the DPS.
