Lejuan Holmes Dies in Smith County Car Crash on Highway 64

Smith County, Texas (April 14, 2019) – A collision involving multiple vehicles left one person dead on Thursday afternoon in Smith County.

According to the DPS, the wreck happened at about 3:05 p.m. April 11, on Highway 64.

DPS said Lejuan Keith Holmes, 47, of Humble was driving a 2016 Kia Forte eastbound on US 64 in the in the outside lane when she moved into the inside lane and collided with a 2011 Nissan Sentra driven by James Whitney Callis, 43, of New London.

The impact pushed the Kia into the westbound lanes and was hit by a 2016 Kenworth truck-tractor operated by 53-year-old Timothy Julius Johnson of Bullard.

DPS said Holmes was pronounced deceased at the site of the collision. Callis was taken to Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler and was said to be in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The DPS is investigating the incident.
