Jesse Watkins Killed in Dawson Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 31

Dawson, Texas (April 16, 2019) – One person was killed and another injured in an accident involving two vehicles on Saturday afternoon near the city of Dawson, as per a local news source.

The crash was reported at about 1:00 p.m. April 13, on Highway 31.

Police said a 2015 white Hino utility truck was heading east on highway 31 while a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup was westbound on the highway.

The utility truck swerved to the left and crossed the center median into the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons, causing the Dodge to strike the right side of the utility truck. The impact caused the two vehicles to roll over.

39-year-old Jesse Watkins of Rockwell, the driver of the Dodge, was declared dead at the scene. A passenger in the Dodge, Clifford Dooley, 64, of Rowlett, was seriously injured and was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco.

The driver of the utility truck was not injured.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
