Woman Injured, Jerrell Bennett Arrested after Austin Scooter Crash on Alamo Street and East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Austin, Texas (May 20, 2019) – A driver was arrested after a hit-and-run crash that left a scooter rider injured early Saturday morning in Austin, according to police.
The collision occurred at about 12:45 a.m. May 18, on Alamo Street and East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Police said a woman was riding a scooter when she was struck by a white Kia sedan. The driver of the sedan fled the scene after the incident.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police later located the driver traveling eastbound on MLK Jr. Boulevard after Chicon Street. The driver, identified as Jerrell Bennett, 70, was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
