Austin, Texas (April 23, 2019) – The Austin police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last Wednesday morning in south Austin.

James Taylor Bourgeois, 55, died in the incident that happened near Stassney Lane and South Congress Avenue around 1 a.m. April 17.

Police said Bourgeois was trying to cross the street when a vehicle traveling northbound on Congress Avenue struck him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved reportedly stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The crash is under investigation.
