Man Killed in North Austin Pedestrian Crash on North Lamar Boulevard

Austin,  Texas (may 8, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday morning in North Austin has been identified as David John Medrano, 48, according to Austin police.

The accident happened in the 8700 block of North Lamar Boulevard near Rundberg Lane at about 6:10 a.m. May 2.

Police said Medrano was trying to cross North Lamar Boulevard when a small dark pickup truck heading north struck him. The driver then fled the scene after the incident.

Medrano was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died upon arrival.

The driver was operating a dark colored, small SUV or a truck which may have sustained front-end damage on its right side.

The Austin Police Department is investigating the incident.
