Akm Karim Among 2 Killed in Wood County Crash on Highway 69 near Mineola
Wood County, Texas (May 23, 2019) – Two people were killed and three others injured in an accident involving two vehicles on Wednesday evening in Wood County, according to a local news source.
The crash was reported at around 6:40 p.m. May 22, on U.S. 69 near Mineola.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 35-year-old Akm Shamsul Karim, driving a passenger car, had stopped at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 779 and U.S. 69. Jairol Tejeda Limonte, 25, was driving a semi southeast towards the intersection.
Karim pulled into the intersection and collided with the semi.
Karim and a 17-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
37-year-old Brody Spann, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old passenger in the passenger car, were seriously injured and taken to a Tyler hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
No further details on the crash were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
