10 Students Hospitalized after Bailey County Bus Accident on SH 214 and CR 1028
Bailey County, Texas (June 12, 2019) – Several students were hospitalized after an accident where a Muleshoe ISD School bus collided with a big rig in Bailey County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wreck took place around 2:20 p.m. June 11, at SH 214 and CR 1028.
The school bus, which was going north on SH 214, tried to turn westbound onto CR 1028 and was hit from behind by an 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler was reportedly trying to pass the bus when the collision happened.
10 students were transported to Muleshoe Area Medical Center with varying injuries. One child was then transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock for further treatment.
The driver of the bus was unhurt but the one operating the 18-wheeler was hospitalized for their injuries.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
