Midland County Sheriff’s Deputy Hurt in Austin Crash on Business 20 at South Country Road 1250
Austin, Texas (May 23, 2019) – A Midland County Sheriff’s Deputy was hospitalized after a vehicle collided with a train on Tuesday in Austin, as per a local news source.
The crash was reported on Tuesday, May 21, on Business 20 at South Country Road 1250.
Police said the deputy was involved in a train crash while responding to an emergency call. The deputy’s vehicle was crossing the railroad tracks just as one train passed through the intersection. When the car was crossing the second set of tracks, it was hit on the driver’s side by the train.
The officer was injured and transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The child in the distress call received help and was also was taken to the hospital.
The incident is under investigation.
