Police Officer Injured in Waxahachie Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 35
Waxahachie, Texas (May 5, 2019) – A police officer was injured when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a suspect who led police on a chase in Waxahachie Saturday night.
According to the authorities, the crash happened at about 8 p.m. May 4, on Interstate 35 at Brookside Road.
Police said the officer was placing spikes onto the roadway to assist stop the fleeing suspect when he was struck by the vehicle.
The officer was airlifted to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, where he was treated and released.
The suspect later stopped and was taken into custody. It’s unclear why the suspect was being pursued.
The incident is under investigation.
